Newport RI

Sail Beyond Cancer® Newport launched in the spring of 2026 and is proud to begin serving individuals and families across Rhode Island and Narragansett Bay.

Our volunteers provide free, private three-hour sailing experiences for individuals facing cancer and the loved ones who support them. These mission sails offer a meaningful break from treatments, appointments, and uncertainty — creating moments of peace, connection, and respite on the water.

Our sails take place aboard ALBA, a 1986 German Frers 48’ ketch, generously donated to help bring the Sail Beyond Cancer mission to Narragansett Bay.

NOMINATE

Our mission of honoring those challenged by cancer by harnessing the healing powers of wind, water, and sail comes to life through two types of mission sails.

  • RESPITE SAILS

For individuals currently undergoing treatment or living with cancer — any age and any diagnosis.

Each nominee may invite up to five guests to join them for a private sail designed to offer encouragement, relaxation, and time together away from the challenges of illness.

  • MEMORIAL SAILS

For individuals or families who have lost a loved one to cancer within the past three years.

These sails provide a peaceful time to honor, remember, and reflect while surrounded by the healing elements of wind, water, and sail.
