NEW - Just launched!

 Cancer Caregivers Sailing Program

Why are we offering special sailing excursions for Caregivers?

With the number of individuals who face the likelihood of a cancer diagnosis grows, we have come to understand that the people who support and honor those challenged by cancer are deserving of their own moment to process their experiences under sail. These individuals will also have the opportunity for self-care and time to share their experiences with others on a similar journey.

Cancer Patients

Cancer Respite Sailing Program
Why do we offer respite sails for cancer patients?

Our cancer mission sails are designed to offer relief from the often grueling experience of having cancer. These sails offer cancer patients (aka ‘Nominees’) the opportunity to spend time with loved ones and let go of the day-to-day demands of having cancer.

They can enjoy the experience of being out on the water for “A Day Without Cancer.” Our sailing excursions are private sails designed to give both cancer patients and their loved ones time together celebrating life.

Who is eligible to take part in these Mission Sails?

We offer three sails per day - seven days a week -throughout the season from late May to early October weather permitting. We will offer sails for those who are being challenged by cancer who:

  1. Received word that they are about to start treatment for cancer

  2. Currently in treatment for cancer including maintenance drugs

  3. Are living with cancer with or without treatment; in Respite house or Hospice

Are the sails private?

Yes, our sailing excursions are private and Nominees may invite up to five friends/loved ones to join them on their own, private sail. There are no age restrictions for passengers.

A captain and one to two crew members will also be present onboard the vessel.

When will the sails take place?

We will be scheduling three sails per day, seven days a week during the sailing season.

Caregivers

NEW Cancer Caregivers

Sailing Program

Why do we offer these sails for caregivers?

Our Caregiver sails are designed to help Caregivers by providing support in connections letting them know that they are not alone in this journey. These sails are designed to give Caregivers an opportunity to allow for self care.

We hope that our sails will provide an opportunity to share how everyone can thrive in their own life while caregiving for someone else being challenged by cancer.

Who is eligible to take part in Caregiver Sails?

We will be offering four sailing excursions per week throughout the season with19 weeks of sailing anticipated this 2021 season.

We will offer sails for Caregivers of two categories:

  1. Caregivers who are currently caregiving for someone who is being challenged by cancer

  2. Caregivers who have lost someone to cancer (within the past 2 years) that they were caring for

Are the sails private?

For the sailing excursions honoring someone who has passed, these sails will most likely be private and will be handled on a case by case request.

For sailing excursions honoring caregivers currently caregiving for a cancer patient, these sails are not private. There could be up to three caregivers allowed on each of these sails. These sailing excursions are designed to bring out caregivers who are experiencing similar challenges, offering the opportunity of utilizing sailing as a way to relax and rejuvenate. Each caregiver is allowed to bring one guest with them on their sail.

When will the sails take place?

We will be departing on 4 sails a week; 2 sails will be during the weekdays and 2 will be on the weekends. All sails are 3 hours long. Further details regarding the sail’s logistics are provided upon scheduling.
