Rick Lober
Board Member
Rick Lober is a long time sailor who along with his spouse Annette, races, cruises and operates a charter business on their Beneteau 473 sailboat in Annapolis, MD. Rick and Annette have both lost close friends and family to cancer and feel that the power of the wind, waves and water give those dealing with this terrible disease along with their friends and families a well-needed respite from their daily struggles. Rick recently retired from his position as VP/GM of a satellite communications firm and now enjoys the freedom to conduct mission sails more often.
Matt Seidel
Communication Committee Chair
Matt Seidel is a Maryland-based sailor with over 15 years of experience navigating the Chesapeake Bay and international waters. He is actively involved in the Annapolis racing and charter boating scene and has collaborated with several of the industry’s leading sailing-focused social media creators.
Outside of sailing, Matt works full-time as an engineer, bringing strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills to every endeavor. He currently serves on the Board of Directors as the head of the Communications committee for the Sail Beyond Cancer Annapolis chapter, where his diverse skill set supports outreach and engagement efforts.
Dr. John Wojcik, DBA, JD
Board Chair
John retired from active duty in 2022 as a Colonel and has extensive board experience. He served for 7 years on the State of Michigan Retirement Board where, as Board Chair, he influenced raising the state employee pension funding ratio from 65.4% ($12.2 billion) in 2019 to 71.6% ($14.4 billion) in 2024. John graduated from Leadership Anne Arundel's Flagship program in 2023 and is a grant writer for Annapolis Rotary Club’s International Grant Committee. He has also served on the Annapolis Film Festival Board, Anne Arundel County Veterans Affairs Commission, and is a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officer’s Association of America. His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.
John is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach who leverages his Juris Doctor and Doctor of Business Administration degrees in his coaching practice. As a law professor at Anne Arundel Community College, John enjoys helping young adults discover their paths forward. He and his wife, Kimberlie, sailed their Jeanneau 440, Satisfied, from Traverse City, Michigan to Annapolis through the Erie Canal and thoroughly enjoy the Annapolis community.
